Portraits of Kayla

I’m starting this blog with one of my final images from this photo session with this lovely high school senior because when your client, from Minnesota, asks if she can do something with an obvious NYC background…NYC SHOWS UP..and I was very proud of my city! So to the cab drivers who all pulled up to the stop light together, to the tour bus driver who joined them, and to the awesome dude eating his folded slice on the go – I thank you!

Before that final image happened, I had the pleasure of working with this wonderful high school senior, Kayla, on a beautiful Fall day. I had such a great time capturing her and having the opportunity to see so many layers of her beauty and determination. This young lady, Kayla, is a sibling to another young lady, Lindsey, who has Rett Syndrome. This holiday season my business is donating 10% of all gift certificate purchases to rett syndrome research trust, an organization with a mission to drive the development of treatments and cures for Rett Syndrome and related MECP2 disorders. If you’ve been wanting to invest in  the gift of photography for yourself or someone else – now is a wonderful and meaningful time to make that investment. You give as you get with a gift certificate purchase via my online store. Thank you, as always, for your support.

An Upper East Side Family

A Wedding at Home

I am forever in gratitude to this couple for hiring me to capture their beautifully, intimate wedding at home. After my first consultation with them I told myself, “If they book me, I will purchase the rolleiflex camera I had been wanting for so long.” The moment they confirmed that I would be their photographer – I bought the camera! I didn’t tell them this until I arrived at their wedding with the rolleiflex in hand and asked if I could capture some portraits of them with it since they were the reason I was able to buy it sooner than I had originally planned. They obliged and were so patient with me, knowing I was still in practice mode with it. In the end – I was thrilled to be able to deliver an extra gift of “vintage” quality photography to them on their wedding day.

The film captures appear together at the end of this blog post.

Enjoy…

ROLLEIFLEX FILM IMAGES…

South Street Seaport cont’d.

Aside from having the experience of using my Rolleiflex with this family (see those images here )- we covered a lot of ground at South Street Seaport. We made it to the playground & the candy store. Some pigeons got chased, and we found a Jenga game as well as a wheelbarrow. What more could we ask for?! We had a lot of fun in spite of scraped knees. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to work with this wonderful family.

First Rolleiflex Family!

I’ve been putting this camera to work! I brought it to this family’s photo session and captured some of their images with the Rolleiflex. I am excited to share some of the film scans with you. I had a BLAST with this family of 3 at South Street Seaport. It’s always a pleasure to work with new clients and to learn about their family. This trio and I had 2 hours of fun! Stay tuned for more from my time with them.

*Framing not availableNow let’s talk about albums. I encourage my clients to consider an album as a gift, of course, but also as a perfect way to move your photos from your flash drive to a more tangible way to store your photo memories. Prices vary based on # of pages and size of the album. Please contact me for pricing lists.

PHOTO ALBUMS:

  • 8×12 or 12×8
  • 8×8 or 10×10
  • 11×14 or 14×11

Here’s a visual of what my albums (and mini albums) look like:The mini albums fit in your pocket, they feature up to 12 photos (including the front and back cover) and come as a pack of 3! You can choose the cover material and color for your album. There are various options to choose from: Finally – I want to share, with you, some of the pages from a gift that was given to this family’s matriarch. I was hired to photograph her 90th birthday party and then the family created a photo album, with memories from the day, as an additional gift.

This birthday album is a 6×9 sized album with a contemporary linen cover – in lilac (the birthday girl’s favorite color).

Each layout is 2 pages…                               I have samples of albums and prints available to show you when we meet for our initial consultation.

If you’re a returning client and want to put photos of your family, from our session together, into an album – let me know and we can begin collaborating on that. If you’re ready to put prints on your wall – I will offer you a free consultation to help you with a layout for your home gallery.

In addition to including prints and albums within my new packages – there is an option for the products to be sold separately if you have already had a photo session with me. We can also customize a package for you if the packages I created don’t suit your needs.

(Please contact me for package details & pricing information.)

Let me know if you have any questions.

As always – thank you for the support!

The Broadway Boys

The Broadway Boys are getting ready to get back into the studio to record their next album, “A New Broadway.” I had the great fortune to photograph them on a day when they were recording their new arrangement of Magic to Do. On the same day, they were also creating the video for their Kickstarter campaign. These “Boys” work HARD! I’m giving you a behind-the-scenes look at this group recording their single & creating their video. I’m also sharing some photos taken with me during the photo session portion of the day. Did I mention how hard they work?! See for yourself…

They’re fun to look at but you’ll want to hear them too! Today (7/21) is the LAST DAY to get a FREE download of Magic to Do with any pledge! #joinus

Find The Broadway Boys on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

Port Orchard, Washington

Another dear Washington state family is featured here today! They invited me to their new home and, once again, showed me their beautiful selves. This family was so open to me being a part of their day in a very observatory way. There are times it works well to add myself into the family unit and really engage with everyone during our session and, other times, when it works best to stay a bit on the outside and observe. With this family I gently engaged but mostly observed. They really let me watch them this time around. I had the opportunity to pay close attention to how the kids interact with each other, how their wonderful parents interact, and how they all interact, together and as individuals, with their new surroundings. I know I am always saying how honored I am to capture my clients but it’s true every time. When people allow me to not only see who they are but trust me to see that in them – I am deeply moved by that trust. I felt I saw this family more deeply than I did the last time I photographed them all. Perhaps it was because we were in their home or maybe it was because I hadn’t seen them in a while and was discovering new things. We also know each other better now, which always adds another layer. In any case – it was a meaningful experience to be with them. Huge thanks to each member of this loving family for your vulnerability and trust. It truly is an honor!
